AFRICAN FASHION WEEK TORONTO 2014 | Events line up and List of Designers.


African Fashion Week Toronto is a Fashion exhibition produced by AFC as a spring board for Student, emerging and experienced designers interested in establishing a presence in the North American Fashion market.

During the 4 day festivities, designers will be offered a premium opportunity to present their latest fashion forward designs to local boutique buyers, Fashion retailers, celebrity stylists, the media, and the general public.

Thursday August 7th

Opening night Industry networking soiree

The Angolan designer Vicki Muzadi Catherine, owner of the brand Vicky Muzadi is bringing her 2014 collection to Toronto where she will have the opportunity to show the Angolan culture with her collections in various types and sizes with a unique, structured and asymmetrical style.

Eva Gabarra (Senegal / Paris)

Super Talented Fashion designer living between Hamburg and Paris. Winner of the Vlisco show Paris and Tropics Fashion awards from Johannesburg. This sophisticated designer dedicates her designs to make ladies indulge in their class, taste and sophistication.

Ms Ray Couture (Amsterdam) 

Miss Ray is an African fashion designer who loves everything about Fashion. Her focus is to make their designs simple, memorable and inviting. Her designs are not limited to a certain shape or type but rather create sophisticated outfits to compliment the beauty of all fashion forward women.

The winner of the 2013 AFWT Student Designer competition. ZNA.K Canada is a modern fashion label with a diverse Afro-Western flare, specializing in colourful custom designs for all shapes and sizes.

The Anticipated return with his Full 2014 collection. The KING OF COUTURE as he is widely known and referred to in the fashion world and Media, Adebayo Jones believes details will set your work apart.

Trish O Couture (Nigeria)

With the use of her vivid imagination, Patricia is able to capture fairytale in modern day fashion. An idealist at heart, Patricia is inspired by the feminine form, fairy tales and the concept of love and romance which she tries to infuse into her fashion. come check her out her new collection at the 2014 African fashion week Toronto.

Prolifik Fashion (Nigeria)

Their brand mission is to be one of the best African/Western designers to be reckoned with all over Africa and other Western countries interested in their style. They also have a goal to promote the values of Africa through their designs.

Rebelious Klothing (Zimbabwe)

Rebelious Klothing specializes in runway clothing on the street. The label is for individuals that are daring & have the guts to wear the craziest unimaginable stuff on normal days. The label tends to rebel against all normal odds and gives an opportunity for creative minds to embrace it.


Shadow by Sidumiso (Zimbabwe)

This is a clothing label established in 2004 and founded by Sidumiso Tshuma. The name shadow comes from Tshuma’s school days when he used to be called by such because of his dark complexion.  Instead of mopping around and losing his self esteem, Sidumiso took the name as his brand and demonstrated how one can embrace their uniqueness and sale it to the rest of the world.

Blinq Xclusive (Zimbabwe)

BlinQ is a button work accessory label established in 2012 by Sheenah Moyo. The label appreciates the little, yet unique things that we take for granted as a society and brings life to them. Her designs have been worn by ZiFM’s – Tinotenda Katsande, Bulawayo’s Sweetheart Public Personality – Mbo Mahocs, DJ Eltonic and is breaking through all Barriers.

      • I see some really outrageous (and extremely expensive) clothes on the fashion models, I always wondered where ordinary people could wear them. You know the things I mean. Who can afford to pay $1000’s for a dress to wear once or twice a year if you’re lucky?
        I’ve always been fat too and seems like they don’t make much really nice stuff for short fat women.
        I do love to look at the beautiful designs tho.🙂
