This song has been on trial since the idea of it ever happening reached the surface and the verdict is “We approve”. Drake featured Wizkid on “One Dance” off the “VIEWS” album after the duo were on the “Ojuelegba” remix which featured UK’s – Skepta.
When rumours of a leaked version titled “Hush Up the silence” reached online, i was skeptical of listening to it as i did not want to disappoint my ears but the hype and world’s reaction to such a feat only made me go from patient to “screw it, i’m just gonna play the leaked version fam.” Fast forward to March 31st after many remixes and viral videos of celebrities vibing to the leaked version, Wizkid dropped the most anticipated song in the African Continent, dubbing it as “Come Closer” featuring Canada’s number one – Drake. The song delivered and surpassed many expectations (that is another post fo’sure). It introduced a side of Wizkid that we have not seen in a while and also a new side of Wizkid that is a breath of fresh air for african music.
Only a week after the song had garnered more than a million streams worldwide on platforms like Spotify, itunes and Google play, the Sony/RCA Records Act releases the Daps directed visual and it is nothing short of vibrant. Although we do not get a Drake appearance, Wizkid shows his dominance and energy in the video- The video features well choreographed dance moves, voluptuous women and Wizkids’s African heritage
With proper distribution and push from Sony/RCA records, Wizkid is bound to cross over into the global market with this one as this marks his debut for his upcoming project #SFTOS “Sounds From The Other Side.” Get the Audio from itunes
