KScopeWomen - Mary Asekome #IWD2021

“Leadership is the ability to guide others without force into a direction or decision that leaves them still feeling empowered and accomplished.”

– Lisa Cash Hanson

Get to know Mary

Being a Nigerian immigrant in Canada, Mary Asekome knows first hand the hardships of having to start afresh and establishing yourself in the Canadian society. She saw that there was a need to create a community for Nigerians starting out in Canada, where they can access resources and the support they need to not only survive but succeed in this new environment.

Mary founded The Diasporic Nigerian, a multimedia platform dedicated to highlighting the experiences of Nigerians in the diaspora and also celebrate the lives and achievements of Nigerians back home & around the world.

“It is a hub for runaway Nigerians to gather, share and enjoy nostalgic memories through multiple platforms,” in Mary’s own words. She is also working to become an immigration advisor so she can continue to expand the support she can offer to the Nigerians looking to start a new life in Canada.

She has praised the way the Kscope community has helped support African business in new and innovative ways. Connecting them to new people and opportunities for growth and evolution.

We, at Kscope, are happy to have you as part of our ever growing community.
