“Makeup to me is an artform. You envision a look and you bring it to life calling out the beauty in everyone. There is no repetition or routine because every face is unique. My name is Anike Alarape. I’m a Nigerian, studying in Canada. I started working as a freelance makeup artist in 2013 and I’ve always loved making people feel beautiful. My goal in life is to leave an impact on someone’s life even in little ways, and hopefully take this passion into my study of medicine. My love for makeup is matched only by my love for science . Doing makeup is like therapy, it keeps me focused and at end everything comes out fixed and beautiful. I want my work to always be unique. I love to learn new techniques to perfect my skills and hopefully I can teach to other aspiring makeup artists one day.” – Anike Alarape
